World cycling champion Mathieu van der Poel talks about the adrenaline rush of two and four wheels in a Lamborghini video.
Sant’Agata Bolognese, December 18, 2023 – Mathieu van der Poel, world cycling champion and owner of a Lamborghini Urus, is well acquainted with the power of adrenaline, as is clearly seen in Lamborghini’s latest “Beyond Speed” video. As a child, van der Poel loved his bicycle and took advantage of every free moment to jump in the saddle: this interest later became a true passion for cyclo-cross and performance.
“I became the cyclo-cross world champion, I achieved several victories. I reached all the goals I had set for myself, and so I moved on to road racing,” says van der Poel, a lifelong athlete who goes the extra mile to achieve goals and prizes: it was cycling that fueled his desire for adrenaline. When he’s on two wheels he races on cyclo-cross tracks and paved roads, and just like the Lamborghini Urus, he achieves maximum performance on every terrain.
“Cycling is my life and the Lamborghini Urus is ideal for my lifestyle,” says van der Poel. “It’s the perfect car for me. It’s a matter of performance, but also about treating yourself to a touch of exclusivity. And since my bike is always with me, I can transport it in its large trunk.”
“Speed is synonymous with adrenaline. Obviously the feeling you get on a bicycle is different from the one you get in a Lamborghini. Going downhill and sprinting on a bicycle is fast and I have to use all my senses and abilities based on the different environments, and I love this adrenaline rush, but the Urus Super SUV certainly delivers similar sensations. It’s fast and the way it tackles every challenge and terrain is on another level. The engine is truly special and there are so many other features of the car that I love. But it’s not just that: Lamborghini is an Italian brand that expresses passion, and the Lamborghini Urus is a clear example of that.”
