Milan, September 2, 2023
On the occasion of the 80th edition of the Venice International Film Festival, returns to Venice to celebrate the city with a new stop in the One Night Only series.
One Night Only Venice will commence with a Giorgio Armani Privé fashion show at the Arsenale, the ancient complex, now restored, of shipyards and workshops located at the eastern end of the city. In the evocative setting of the Tese delle Nappe, a selection of Haute Couture looks, including dresses inspired by Venice, will be presented. Following the show, an after-party for the 700 guests will feature live performances by Róisín Murphy and a DJ set by Mark Ronson.
Giorgio Armani’s connection with the Venice Film Festival dates back to 1990, when the documentary film “Made in Milan,” directed by Martin Scorsese, had its world premiere. On that occasion, the designer hosted a grand party in honor of the director at Ca’ Leone in Giudecca. Over the years, Giorgio Armani has consistently worked with actors and directors attending Venice, dressing them for the red carpet and beyond.
As with the recent events in Dubai and St. Moritz, One Night Only Venice 2023 has been designed to minimize its environmental impact, in accordance with ISO 20121 standards. The Armani Group plans to encourage the reuse and recycling of materials, promote separate waste collection, avoid the use of single-use plastics, prevent food waste, and use LED lighting. Suppliers will be required to adhere to specific social and environmental clauses.
All residual greenhouse gas emissions related to the event will be offset through support for environmental projects in the Venice lagoon, managed by Sea the Change and Blue Valley, aimed at preserving the ecological balance, restoring the ecosystem, and supporting associated biodiversity.
Additionally, the Armani Group will support the non-profit organization “We are here Venice” with a donation to fund research aimed at protecting the lagoon and enhancing the understanding of the value of this unique environment for society.
The Armani Group will also make a donation to Venetian Heritage, the non-profit foundation that supports and funds initiatives for the promotion and safeguarding of Venice’s artistic heritage worldwide. The contribution will be allocated to the conservation restoration of a selection of works belonging to the Giorgio Franchetti Gallery at Ca’ d’Oro and to the enhancement of the collection itself.
One Night Only is the itinerant event that brings the Armani universe to the world’s most important cities, having so far touched seven cities: London in 2006, Tokyo in 2007, Beijing in 2012, Rome and New York in 2013, Paris in 2014, and Dubai in 2021.
This celebration of the connection between Giorgio Armani and cinema also includes the renewal of Armani beauty’s partnership as the main sponsor of the festival. For the sixth consecutive year, Armani beauty will provide the official make-up service for guests.
